One of my favorite beauty blogs The Beauty Department posted an amazing tutorial to take your prim work bun into a full-out party bun. In my opinion, buns are (or should be!) a go-to hairstyle for every girl. Think about it: you’re rushing and don’t have time to wash and style your hair. What’s better than throwing it up in a sleek sock bun, messy bun or top knot? Nothing!
Nothing is worse than having dry, irritated skin especially during the colder months. Every girl wants her skin to be smooth to the touch and look radiant. When I came across this do-it-yourself body scrub by LEAF I immediately had to share. Sure, there are tons and tons of body scrubs we can find in stores but sometimes it’s nice to make an all-natural, homemade version for yourself instead of picking it off a shelf.
Learn how to make your own coconut and lavender body scrub minimal ingredients. Besides smelling amazing, this scrub will leave your skin soft and smooth. It also makes for a great gift. Here’s what you’ll need: (more…)
Let me start by saying: this picture by Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann perfectly sum up the Emmy Awards last night. The over-three-hour show was not the greatest, in my opinion, and could have been a tad more entertaining.
My three favorite parts of the show were 1. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler telling Neil Patrick Harris to twerk while shoving their faces with popcorn. 2. Will Ferrel bringing his kids out on stage in a t-shirt and shorts to announce the final two awards and 3. Breaking Bad finally winning for Outstanding Drama Series, which was so well-deserved.
Although the overall show wasn’t the best, there was some great fashion and that’s all that counts right? Check out the gallery after the jump for red carpet galore. (more…)
Whenever I think of Fashion Week, I picture gorgeous models strutting their stuff down long runways showcasing beautifully crafted garments. I tend to forget, as I’m sure others do, that these models have to endure grueling hours of castings, fittings, hair and makeup, etc. Although the finished result is stunning, it’s hard to believe what models go through to walk the Fashion Week runway hoping to land a big campaign. Reading through the Huffington Post, I came across an interesting article about one model who almost lost a job because of her birth control. I repeat: birth control. (more…)
As I was reading my daily dose of Cupcakes and Cashmere I came across this amazing YouTube video of the Disney Princesses “acting out” the preview to Mean Girls. I’m sure as with most girls, there are two things in life that are a necessity:
1. Quoting Mean Girls on a daily basis
2. Feeling as if you have a personal relationship with every Disney Princess because, of course, we grew up together. For the record, Belle and Jasmine are my two favorite!
I may be late to the game in seeing this amazing video, but I had to share anyway. After all, nothing is better than Mean Girls and Disney Princesses!
My Sunday evening was dedicated to the interesting events that took place at the MTV Video Music Awards…minus the hour I took to watch Breaking Bad. I’m so very grateful for the hour-long, necessary break that kept me jaw-dropped, gasping at my TV (the BB fans know what I’m talking about) and no, not because of Miley Cyrus.
As I sat and watched the VMA’s with my parents, who were as confused as I was, I can only imagine the look on my face the entire time, minus the *NSYNC reunion, naturally. Here are some of my thoughts of last night’s show. (more…)
It’s not unusual to hear that you need to be of a certain age or older to purchase cigarettes, alcohol and other obvious items. It makes sense to have an age limit regarding alcohol/cigarettes because, clearly, we don’t want young teens waltzing into a store buying cases of beer and cartons of cigarettes However, should there really be an age limit on buying nail polish remover?
It’s been reported by the New York Post and various online sources that CVS drugstores will be asking for proper identification when purchasing a bottle (note: there is a two bottle per-day limit) of acetone nail polish remover. (more…)
There’s something about distressed denim that I’m in love with. Perhaps, it’s the way each fray and rip wears in perfectly to the contours of my legs with each wear? The fact they already have that broken in feel and I don’t have to do squats to make them stretch a bit? Ladies, I know you know what I’m talking about. Or they are just simply effortless and chic.
I stumbled across this amazing, detailed tutorial on the Free People blog, BLDG 25, showing you how to perfectly distress a pair of jeans. It really doesn’t take any time at all to create a truly unique pair of jeans. Plus, you only need a few tools: a sharp razor blade (be careful!), card stock, scissors, sandpaper and a dremel, which is optional. (more…)
Lately I’ve been researching hairstyles for an upcoming wedding I have to attend. My dress is somewhat busy so I wanted to do something sleek like a sock bun. When I saw this tutorial I was instantly drawn in…and I’m kind of obsessed.
As stated numerous times, I wasn’t blessed with the natural skill of creating pretty hairstyles. The only thing I can do is throw my hair into a high ponytail or sock bun. Luckily for me, my sister has that natural ability and after seeing this tutorial I’m going to be her newest client. Like most girls, I’m loving sock buns because they are super easy and instantly transform your entire look. This hair tutorial by Luxy Hair kicks it up a notch and adds in an upside down french braid.
I’m so glad I found the Luxy Hair YouTube channel because these girls are so talented and have amazing, easy-to-follow tutorials. Sisters, Mimi and Leyla, started Luxy Hair after Mimi had a bad experience with hair extensions. Check out their site for premium Luxy Clip-In Hair Extensions!
My mom always jokes that I’m an 80-year-old woman (no disrespect!) stuck in a 22-year-old body and, to an extent, I don’t disagree. I’m all about DIY projects and crafting unique, adorable items I find online through completely random blogs. I get bored pretty quickly after having the same nail color on for more than a week, keeping the same phone case on for months, etc. Example: I bought a new iPhone case three days ago and I’m already done with it.
Look out for a cool and simple DIY iPhone case that no one else will have after the jump! (more…)
“You look so tired today…” is probably one of the most annoying comments someone can say to me. You are basically telling me I look like crap, but in a nice way. Gee thanks. Listen, we all have those days when our eyes are puffy and under-eyes are dark from lack of sleep. (more…)
As I was driving into work this morning, I was listening to a husband complain on the radio about how he has no closet space in his bedroom because he wife has too many shoes. I sat at a red light confused at this complaint for two reasons: 1. Why do you share a closet with your wife? I’m convinced there’s no way a man and woman can share a closet and expect everything to be fine. 2. There is no such thing as too many shoes. (more…)
Today Instagram released their new Video on Instagram feature that is going to shut down Vine (and possibly Keek), in my opinion, and, potentially change the way businesses connect with customers. Instagram has become a social outlet for people all over the world to share their most intimate, humorous, proud and random moments. Ever since it was bought by Facebook, Instagram has been making subtle changes to become the “big dog” in social media. (more…)
In just a short amount of time Rihanna’s second MAC collaboration, RiRi Hearts MAC will be up for purchase exclusively online at MAC Cosmetics. Rihanna announced she’d be releasing four MAC collections throughout 2013. If this five-piece summer collection is anything like the previous one, you girls better be waiting at your computer screens with credit cards in hand. Ready, get set, go! (more…)
