Falling For You: Pre-Fall 2012 Sneak Preview!

While the men have Pitti Uomo this week, the ladies at SINGER22 are getting our fashion fix via the Pre-Fall 2012 collections that have been trickling in.

First up, let's talk shoes! The Mondrian-inspired Roksanda Illincic collection featured bright red wedges (images below, at left), which we instantly fell for. Luckily, the newly arrived punchy purple Rachel Zoe Kanye Wedges are the perfect way to steal the look. Pair with a matching mod mini or colorblock shift dress and you're ready for a trip to your nearest modern art museum!

Next up is Preen, where we saw feminine, painterly, floral-print button down tops. Sheer snakeskin prints also made an appearance on dresses and blouses. Both of these looks reminded us of our most recent shipment of fashion-forward tops from Equipment!

Stay ahead of the trends with our amazing pieces! SINGER22 has everything you need to bring the runway to reality!

Channeling Penny Lane

This UNIF coat we just got in reminded us of one of our favorite film characters of all time: Penny Lane from Almost Famous!

Everything from the contrast faux-fur collar and lining to the 70s-inspired belted silhouette screams "I'm With The Band!"

Have your tiny dancer moment with this amazing coat!

Drive me insane, Christopher Kane

The Christopher Kane show was by far the show at which to see and be seen this London fashion week. In addition to spotting Kanye West, Anna Wintour and Anna Dello Russo (wearing the most exquisite sequined ensemble I have ever seen), I saw some beautiful clothing that SINGER22 girls will be coveting for Spring 2012.

Mr. Kane pulled out all the stops with this collection, including brocade detailing, origami folds, cutouts, sheers, decorated denim, jewel encrusted dresses and best of all- flat sandals!  Many of the looks were beautiful wisps of fabric whipped together to look effortless, a testament to Kane’s skill. The cutouts and folds of the garments resembled angel wings at times, and the sheer pieces were ethereally gorgeous. The minimal make up and messy chignons were all emblematic that when it comes to beauty next Spring, less is more.

I snapped a shot of this look, which was one of my favorites. The flower power motif reminded me of this 60s-inspired Wildfox look we currently stock here at SINGER22.

I also loved this more casual look, which featured appliquéd denim.

Bedazzled denim? Yes please!

I suspect our favorite denim brands such as J Brand or Current/Elliott will hop on the bedazzled denim bandwagon for Spring/Summer 2012.

SINGER22 is passionate about bringing you the latest in fashion, and we like to keep you ahead of the curve. Stay posted for more of what to expect with each coming season, and let us do the styling for you!

Go Navajo!

Fringe and feathers, patchwork and ponchos. Native American-inspired prints and textiles are huge for fall. Isabel Marant, a favorite of the fashion pack, sent fringed boots and patchwork garments down her AW11 runway. Of her collection Marant said,

“This season, it all started with a Navajo-print carpet. I toyed around with this pattern, then I started with a feather print, and I realized I was working on a Native American story.”

Navajo at Isabel Marant AW11

Love this trend? Here are some ways to recreate the Isabel Marant cool-girl aesthetic with some of my favorite pieces from SINGER22.

Fringed Boots

Marant’s boots might be impossible to track down, but here are some alternatives to recreate the runway look.

Koolaburra Veleta Ankle Boots (above), Sam Edelman Louie Boot, Jeffrey Campbell Sloane Boot, Jeffrey Campbell Houston Boot.

Blanket Coat/Poncho

Thrown over a simple outfit, this statement-making outerwear will keep you cozy through winter. Look hip with the slouchy fit, or try belting it for a cinched-in, more tailored effect.

I love the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Dakota Vest, Vince Sophie Blanket Sweater, or Textile Elizabeth and James Dakota Sweater Jacket (pictured above.)

Finishing touches

Fringe trimmed handbags, feather motifs and beaded accessories will tie it all together. Try the Streets Ahead Beaded Bracelet (above), Ember Skye Nicole Bag, and As Is Feather Hair Clip for the best finishing touches.

Keep in mind that a little fringe goes a long way. The key word with this look is restraint. Choose one or two key items and balance it out with a dark wash skinny jean and perfectly fitted henley tee. With our fashion-forward pieces at SINGER22, Navajo-chic has never looked better!

Top Trends Now!

With New York fashion week in full swing, everyone got their eyes on what to expect for Spring/Summer 2012. I’m here to rewind the clocks a bit and remind you of what’s hot for NOW. Autumn weather has arrived early in London, and the top trends of the season have made their way to the high street. Here are some key looks I’ve scouted to help you usher in colder weather.

FUR, FUR, & MORE FUR

A look from the Michael Kors AW11 runway

Real or faux, neon or natural colored, fur is the one of the top trends this season. Seen on the runways of Mulberry, Matthew Williamson and Michael Kors (above), a fur accent is the ideal way to glam up even the simplest outfit. Get the look with this luxe Vince Coyote Fur Shrug, gorgeous Veda Rhapsody Fur Coat, Nonoo Isabella fur vest, or my personal favorite, the faux BSABLE Lauren jacket ,which looks like it belongs in Kate Moss’s closet. Don’t be left out in the cold: invest in that fur coat, vest or accessory now!

1960s MOD REDUX

A look from the Philosophy AW11 runway

This one we love! A-line shapes, monochromatic palettes and chunky Mary-Jane shoes are back. With a spin on the futuristic looks of fashion visionary André Courreges, this season is all about swing coats, pleating, cropped micro-flare trousers and mini skirts. To achieve this look, check out images of  60s it-girls such as Jane Birkin, Anita Pallenberg and Penelope Tree for inspiration. We suggest pairing this beatnik-worthy Vince turtleneck sweater with a black A-line mini skirt, this Iro Ancila jacket and opaque tights for a look that screams “Alexa Chung,” and this gorgeous Camilla and Marc Little Scarlett Pleated Dress with matching tights and this Smythe Mini Coat for a pitch-perfect rendition of the 60s trend.

COLORBLOCKING

Colorblocking done right at Giambattista Valli AW11

You’ve seen it at Derek Lam and Jil Sander, and all of us here at SINGER22 have been singing the praises of this trend since early summer. Choose different hues from the same color family (shown at Giambattista Valli, above), or mix it up with primary or neon colors. This is an easy look to achieve with maximum impact and can be done for a casual or evening look. Get creative and pair any combination of an Emerson Thorpe Color Block Tee with a contrasting pair of J Brand colored jeans. For an evening look, this Naven Oversized Blouse pairs perfectly with this turquoise bubble skirt.

There you have it, ladies! You have all Autumn and Winter to try these trends, and SINGER22 is here to keep you at the head of the fashion class. Don’t forget to check back often for updates from the UK and a full report of London fashion week starting next week. Stay glamorous!

Sound & Vision

I was lucky enough to attend the Pitchfork music festival in Chicago last weekend as a guest of my friends’ band Sun Airway. In addition to seeing some amazing music including Fleet Foxes, Zola Jesus, Twin Shadow and Cut Copy, I scouted some perfectly chic festival style. Check out these lovely ladies, and learn how to achieve their looks with pieces from SINGER22.

I spied Laura right before TV On The Radio took the stage. I admired her 80s surfer-girl ensemble. Steal Laura’s style by pairing your favorite vintage ankle boots with Wildfox acid wash shorts, a chic white top such as this one from Equipment and classic Ray-Ban sunglasses.
