The Pantone Color of 2014 is Radiant Orchid. Following in the footsteps of 2013′s Emerald, Radiant Orchid “…reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination. An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society,” said Leatrice Eisemen, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. One of my favorite beauty blogs The Beauty Department posted an amazing tutorial to take your prim work bun into a full-out party bun. In my opinion, buns are (or should be!) a go-to hairstyle for every girl. Think about it: you’re rushing and don’t have time to wash and style your hair. What’s better than throwing it up in a sleek sock bun, messy bun or top knot? Nothing!
Nothing is worse than having dry, irritated skin especially during the colder months. Every girl wants her skin to be smooth to the touch and look radiant. When I came across this do-it-yourself body scrub by LEAF I immediately had to share. Sure, there are tons and tons of body scrubs we can find in stores but sometimes it’s nice to make an all-natural, homemade version for yourself instead of picking it off a shelf.
Learn how to make your own coconut and lavender body scrub minimal ingredients. Besides smelling amazing, this scrub will leave your skin soft and smooth. It also makes for a great gift. Here’s what you’ll need: (more…)
Most of the time smokey eyes are created using blacks and greys, but in this makeup tutorial Teni of MissMaven creates a beautiful smokey eye using neutral colors. She uses lighter and softer colors in the peach/brown family to create a lovely look that’s great for day or night. If you want to wear a smokey eye but don’t want the intense look that black/greys shadow create then try out this neutral smokey eye. Check it out above!
Eye makeup has a major influence in enhancing the beauty of a women’s face. Choosing the right eyeshadow shade to complement your eye color can really make your eyes pop and stand out. You need to choose shades that bring out your natural color and not diminish it. The key to this is the color wheel. As a general rule of thumb, the best eyeshadow hue for your eye color is the one on the other end of the color wheel. This shade will accentuate your eye color the best. (more…)
Whenever I think of Fashion Week, I picture gorgeous models strutting their stuff down long runways showcasing beautifully crafted garments. I tend to forget, as I’m sure others do, that these models have to endure grueling hours of castings, fittings, hair and makeup, etc. Although the finished result is stunning, it’s hard to believe what models go through to walk the Fashion Week runway hoping to land a big campaign. Reading through the Huffington Post, I came across an interesting article about one model who almost lost a job because of her birth control. I repeat: birth control. (more…)
It’s not unusual to hear that you need to be of a certain age or older to purchase cigarettes, alcohol and other obvious items. It makes sense to have an age limit regarding alcohol/cigarettes because, clearly, we don’t want young teens waltzing into a store buying cases of beer and cartons of cigarettes However, should there really be an age limit on buying nail polish remover?
It’s been reported by the New York Post and various online sources that CVS drugstores will be asking for proper identification when purchasing a bottle (note: there is a two bottle per-day limit) of acetone nail polish remover. (more…)
The end of the week has finally arrived and you’re ready to let loose and let off some steam. You’re going to get dolled up just so you can go sweat it all off on the dance floor. Guys don’t understand that, despite the dim lights of the night life scene, and their preference for “natural beauty” (you know the guys who say they don’t like makeup but think Kim Kardashian is hot…um, what?) that half the fun of going out is the ritual of applying the war paint to our faces and picking outfits in preparation for potentially running into Hugh Jackman on the dance floor. It’s our modern form of meditation. (more…)

Lately I’ve been researching hairstyles for an upcoming wedding I have to attend. My dress is somewhat busy so I wanted to do something sleek like a sock bun. When I saw this tutorial I was instantly drawn in…and I’m kind of obsessed.
As stated numerous times, I wasn’t blessed with the natural skill of creating pretty hairstyles. The only thing I can do is throw my hair into a high ponytail or sock bun. Luckily for me, my sister has that natural ability and after seeing this tutorial I’m going to be her newest client. Like most girls, I’m loving sock buns because they are super easy and instantly transform your entire look. This hair tutorial by Luxy Hair kicks it up a notch and adds in an upside down french braid.
I’m so glad I found the Luxy Hair YouTube channel because these girls are so talented and have amazing, easy-to-follow tutorials. Sisters, Mimi and Leyla, started Luxy Hair after Mimi had a bad experience with hair extensions. Check out their site for premium Luxy Clip-In Hair Extensions!
“You look so tired today…” is probably one of the most annoying comments someone can say to me. You are basically telling me I look like crap, but in a nice way. Gee thanks. Listen, we all have those days when our eyes are puffy and under-eyes are dark from lack of sleep. (more…)
