Trending: Stripes!

People might be intimidated by wearing striped tops, jeans, dresses, etc. Stripes have the reputation of making you look wider than you truly are. However, according to a style report on TLC, “A perception expert at the University of York in the U.K. found that when two women of the same size wore horizontally and vertically striped dresses, the woman wearing the horizontal stripes appeared thinner. These experiments were based on the Helmholtz square illusion, first created in the eighteenth century, and suggest that horizontal stripes may help slim the figure by creating a 3D effect and introducing depth.”

Must-Have Items for When the Sun Starts Shining

We’ve gone through some roller coaster-style weather here in New York this past year. Rain storms, tons of snow, Hurricane Sandy and too many gray days left me begging for spring time. Our first couple weeks of spring wasn’t all that great honestly. It was kinda grey and chilly, but now the sun is shining and the flowers are starting to bloom lining the sidewalks with vibrant colors.

Now that warm spring weather is in full effect, I find the sleeves on my tops are slowly inching up towards my shoulders. And although I love wearing boots, I love when it comes time to ditch them for half the year and switch to flats and sandals. When I think of spring my mind goes straight to light-wash denim, slouchy tops and lightweight sweaters. On that note, here are a few of my must-have items that no wardrobe should be without! Thanksgiving Day Outfit: Comfy or Chic?

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is just a few days away! It's crazy how fast the time is going but I cannot be more excited for Thanksgiving. Besides my birthday (yes, I count that as a holiday) and Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because I'm a huge foodie and there's obviously tons of food. The one dilemma I face is whether or not to get dressed up or stay comfy. My personal choice is to be comfortable because I like to just hang around all day and eat myself into a food coma. Learn How To Create a Perfect Smokey Eye

One reason I envy every female celebrity is because they get to wake up to the talented hands of professional makeup artists. I, on the other hand, don’t have that wonderful luxury and, gosh, I wish I did. It’s really crazy how much a person can do with makeup and, more specifically, eyeshadow. You can use certain colors to make your eyes pop or glue on those crazy lashes, which I happen to be slightly scared of. I guess you can relate your eyelids to being like a blank canvas and you can create beautiful masterpiece! Ok that might have been a bit too dramatic but here’s a video from the talented Ashley on how to create a fab smokey eye!

One of my favorite colors (ever) is military green. It’s a neutral and goes with great with anything. What’s not to love? Plus, it’s a pretty color for fall so here are some items to keep in mind.
