Kotur Bio: Fiona Kotur Marin
A native New Yorker and a former accessories designer with Polo Ralph Lauren in New York, Fiona Kotur Marin has recently launched KOTUR, a handbag collection, inspired by the remarkable discovery of a trove of vintage brocades while traveling through Asia.
Embraced by the love of Oriental art and culture, and the region's rich history of textiles and ornament, Fiona created a collection of limited edition clutches with the vintage brocades. They were immediately picked up by well known retailers such as Scoop NYC in New York, Catherine Prevost, Paul Smith and Browns in London, and are in the process of further distributing the collection to countries throughout Europe, United States and Asia. She was also invited by American cosmetic scion Aerin Lauder to create a special Oscar gift bag for the 78th Academy Awards in March 2006. Her bags have become favorites of celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Zhou Xun.
With the combinations of talents and a keen sense of manufacturing capability, the extended collection of KOTUR 2006 includes minaudieres with vintage brocade linings, and in metallic snakeskin with matching espadrilles, as well as small and oversized bags made from studded leather and canvas.
