Introduced in 2007, Naven was the innovation of twins Kym and Alexis McClay. The name Naven is inspired by the twins’ Irish descent, using a slight variation of the Irish city of Navan. The daughters of a savvy businessman and an artist are where Kym and Alexis gain their creative talent. Spending most of their youth traveling throughout Europe, Kym and Alexis developed a fashion forward way of thinking that later translated in their designs throughout the Naven fashion line.
After Kym graduated with a BA in Fashion and Merchandising from FIDM and Alexis with a degree in Marketing and French from Pepperdine University, the duo took advantage of the experience they gained through working in the industry. Knowing that they had to follow their own vision Kym and Alexis introduced their women’s contemporary line in Los Angeles, gaining the nickname “The Naven Twins.”
Although Naven will always stay true to its Los Angeles roots, the fashion line personifies a hint of European influence. Kym and Alexis’ vision of “the Naven girl” is “a confident, empowered woman, who uses color and fashion forward fits in their wardrobe to feel fun, flirty and like a warrior princess.” The line highlights the beauty of the female silhouette through flattering fits while portraying empowerment and energy through bold colors, fine fabrics and an edgy take on the classic form.
