One of Hollywood's greatest icons passed away on March 23, 2011. Actress Dame Elizabeth Taylor was suffering from various health problems, including congestive heart failure. However, that did not stop her from taking part in current events and non-profit organizations. She spent most of her time dedicated to AIDS-related charities and helped raise more than $100 million to help fight the disease. She helped start the American Foundation for AIDS Research, which she co-founded with actor Rock Hudson. She also donated money to purchase mobile care vans for AIDS sufferers in New Orleans, and took part in politics by endorsing Hilary Clinton in the 2008 presidential elections.
