Date night is extremely important to us girls and we obviously want to look our best. Unfortunately, we all don't have the ability to have a professional makeup artist at our fingertips, so we're here to help. We asked our makeup artist and hair stylist, Rachel, to give a quick and easy tutorial for creating a flirty, smokey eye that's ideal for any date night. Check it out after the jump!
Step 1: After applying primer, foundation and concealer, use a pencil tip brush to line around the eye with a deep brown color. Rachel used Busted from the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette to provide a smokey effect. This carries the selected crease color, Snakebite, down to the under part of the eye (concentrated only on the outer corners). This step provides a properly balanced look.
Step 2: Use any small tipped brush to apply a highlight color to the brow bone. Rachel used the shade Bootycall. Blending very carefully, Snakebite and Bootycall begin to look as if they have been washed together with no definitive lines.
Step 3: Using a small angled eyeliner brush, begin to apply black gel liner (any brand will do) from the outer corner. Drag the line slightly past your eye to elongate your eye shape. Make sure to thin out the line gradually towards the inner part of your eye. The liner will look as if it's part of your natural lash line, only accentuated towards the outer part of your eye.
Step 4: After you complete lining the lower waterline of your eye, curl your eyelashes with any eyelash curler. This really helps to open up the eyes, especially with such a smokey look. Be sure to step the curler out, beginning with one squeeze closest to the lash line and gradually moving towards the tips by clamping down a few different times.
Step 5: To complete the look, apply black mascara. Rachel used two different types of mascara to join the formula and create thick, fluffy, and long lashes. The first was Tarte Light's, Camera, Lashes! in black and second was SEPHORA COLLECTION Outrageous Volume Mascara in ultra black. She used the Tarte mascara for the first layer and went back with the Sephora mascara. Finally, brush through with a spooly (a clean mascara wand).
Step 6: Keep the focus of your look on the eyes and apply a very neutral lip shade. She used MAC Viva Glam II Lipstick. Then apply a sheer pink gloss, she used Loreal Brillant A Levres in Sheer Pink on top to complete the look.
