It really doesn't take any time at all to create a truly unique pair of jeans. Plus, you only need a few tools: a sharp razor blade (be careful!), card stock, scissors, sandpaper and a dremel, which is optional. (more…)

Summer Prints and How to Stop Traffic

10:39 AM

Summer has officially arrived in New York City. Everyone is breaking out their shorts, breezy fabrics and flirty dresses. This summer is the summer of prints and brights. Loud, fun, obnoxious, novelty prints and bold, saturated colors. Prints of all kinds including florals, animal, skulls, paisley, preppy, you name it. I myself love bold abstract and tribal statement prints. It’s a great way to stand out in NYC.

New Yorkers are all in an unspoken competition to see who can stand out the most and make a statement. Life here is about celebrating individuality and having others notice and acknowledge it. But in a place where the competition and ambition are high, no one will notice you if you don’t give them a reason to.  Incorporating a colorful print into your outfit is a simple eye catching way to spark interest.  Check out the bright summer prints on these street stylers in Little Italy. Trending: Stripes!

11:13 AM

Trend

People might be intimidated by wearing striped tops, jeans, dresses, etc. Stripes have the reputation of making you look wider than you truly are. However, according to a style report on TLC, “A perception expert at the University of York in the U.K. found that when two women of the same size wore horizontally and vertically striped dresses, the woman wearing the horizontal stripes appeared thinner. These experiments were based on the Helmholtz square illusion, first created in the eighteenth century, and suggest that horizontal stripes may help slim the figure by creating a 3D effect and introducing depth.”

Check out a few easy ways to look great and feel confident wearing stripes! (more…)
