Last night marked the eleventh season of Project Runway, which premiered on Lifetime at 9pm. There’s a new set of eager and talented designers ready to send their looks down the runway. However, in this season there’s a twist. Every challenge is a team challenge…yikes.
We were excited to hear one of our models, Katrina, will be walking the runway! Last night, designer Stanley Hudson got paired with Katrina as his lovely model. Stanley is on Team Keeping It Real, who won last night’s challenge to design a garment inspired by New York City.
Award-winning fashion designer Zac Posen is replacing longtime judge Michael Kors. But don’t worry, you’ll get to see Mr. Kors as a guest judge for the finale at New York Fashion Week. Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen will be joined by different guest judges every episode like previous Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, Bette Midler, Kristin Davis and Emmy Rossum just to name a few.
We sat down with Katrina to ask her a few questions about modeling on Project Runway. Here’s what she had to say!
1. What made you want to audition for Project Runway?
It was just like a regular casting that I go to throughout the week, but I was excited it was for project runway. I was actually an alternate for last season so I was happy to find out I got cast for season 11.
2. Were you happy Stanley got assigned to you or did you secretly want to work with someone else?
I was happy because I could tell from the first day that he was the most focused. Everyone kept telling me all these good things about him and saying he’s a great designer. I knew he would be a good designer to work with.
3. How long does the whole runway process take during filming?
The entire runway show lasts for one day. The models walk three times for the camera and only once for the judges.
4. We all know the designers are competitive, do you sense any competition between models?
Towards the end there was!
5. Are you excited to watch the season pan out on TV?
Oh, of course. I was stoked to watch it last night during the premiere. A bunch of the models and designers got together at a restaurant to watch it together. It was fun!
