Last night at the studio, Anna Wintour and Diane Von Furstenberg, leaders of Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, announced a new group of designers as finalists for the 2013 Fashion Fund.
What exactly is the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund?
The Fashion Fund program serves as industry mentoring for the design house that wins. In addition to the multitude of knowledge, tips and trade secrets from industry insiders, the Fashion Fund provides financial support to the winner.
“The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has cultivated a generation of renowned American designers whose creative talent is known around the world. Now in its 10th anniversary, the program continues to offer specialized mentoring and business grants that are integral to fostering the next wave of successful design talent,” says CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.

“To my mind simply mentioning the likes of such previous winners as Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, and Joseph Altuzarra more than demonstrates just how much the fund has brought to American fashion. This year's 10 finalists are going to be following in some pretty illustrious footsteps,” Anna Wintour said last night of the incomparable “prize” of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
Here's the full list of finalists:
- Misha Nonoo of Nonoo
Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard of Veronica Beard
Dao-Yi Chao and Maxwell Osborne of Public School
Marc Alary of Marc Alary Jewelry
Juan Carlos Obando
Commodore Jason Jones of Parabellum
Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin of Tome
Shimon and Ariel Ovadia of Ovadia & Sons
As the Huffington Post stated perfectly, “Check that list one more time — you could be reading the names of the next Wang or Proenza Schouler.”
Stay tuned until November 11, when the next top fashion designer is named the winner at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards ceremony.
