We quizzed fitness expert, Delphine Amiot, on what it takes to achieve all of your New Year's Fitness Resolutions, and what it takes to get bikini body ready for 2011.
Q: Â What is the quickest way to drop holiday weight?
A: 1. Drink water. People mistake thirst for hunger, so next time you feel like noshing, reach for water first. Drinking also helps you feel full.Â Â SomeÂ experts suggest sipping water (or iced tea) just before you sit down to a meal. Continue drinking as you eat to add volume and weight to your meal.
2. Eat 1,500 calories a day spread out into 3 to 4 meals a day every 3 to 4 hours. Try to keep your meals low fat/high protein. I want you to get in at least 20g of protein per meal.
3. Spread your calories out in this amount 600 for breakfast 400 for lunch 300 for dinner and 200 for a nighttime snack.
Q: What is a safe sweet snack?
A: Sugar-free pudding. Whether you buy the pre-made packs or make your own, pudding can be an excellent way to satisfy a chocolate craving.For those with a sweeter tooth a serving of rasberrys and blackberrys can help curb those cravings.
Q: How many minutes of cardio is a good goal?
A: I like to keep my cardio goals realistic, for the quickest results 20 minutes first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is the most effective way to shed those unwanted pounds!
Q: What is the #1 piece of advice you can give to get bikini bod ready?
A: ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! A little bit of discipline goes a long way.
Q: What's the quickest, best way to get fab abs?
A: Gosh…thats a good one… There is a whole regime necessary to get that svelt flat tummy we all want to rock on the beach.Increasing your fiber intake ( most of us fall short of our daily requirement)Â dedication to cardio, a diverse ab routine and a commitment to achieving your goal 🙂 keep your sweet tooth unter control and steer clear of those carbonated drinks!!
Q: What's good advice you can give for people who are making fitness New Year's resolutions?
A: Anything worth achieving is worth working for. Be prepared for delayed gratification knowing that the steps you take towards living a healthier lifestyleÂ today will untimately improve the quality of your life ten years from now!!!
Q: What are 3 pieces of equipment (i.e. medicine ball, weights, etc.) that every person should own in their home and how should they use them?
A: Perhaps I should start with how they shouldnt be used, they should not be used as a clothes hanger, door stop or closet space hogger….Most of us at sometime have been mesemerised with the latest fad gaget, gismo or highly motivated exercise video promising us a complete body overhaul in 30 days or less!! I love knowing I have some basic dumbells, for women 5,8 and ten pounds, a set of decent bands and a 8 pound medicine ball. You can create a superb time effective workout with just these 3 items and you will see results!!!
