For those of you on the East Coast, we assume you're well aware of the recent temperature drop we've been experiencing. The weather has been crisp, cool, fresh and an all-around perfect fall season as of yet. If you haven't already done so, it's officially time to break out your layering pieces.
Oh, layering. Where do we even begin? We think of layering as a type of art. If done properly, you can look so effortless and chic like you quickly threw together this masterpiece of an outfit. Someone will always pay you that compliment of, “Oh my god you look so cute today!” and the response is generally, “Really?!! I just threw it on and ran out the door.”
Bottom line: once you know how to properly layer your garments the outcome will always be compliment-worthy. We put together four different layered-up outfits for daily situations all girls encounter.

We all want to get the most out of our wardrobe—especially if we paid for quality items. But as the summer sun fades to autumn’s greyer skies and orange leaves, you might find yourself forced to contemplate a shift in your wardrobe.
There are, of course, some things you’ll have to drop your hard-earned cash for like a leather jacket, perhaps. However, here are a few items you can get value out of even as the weather changes. (more…)
The end of the week has finally arrived and you’re ready to let loose and let off some steam. You're going to get dolled up just so you can go sweat it all off on the dance floor.  Guys don't understand that, despite the dim lights of the night life scene, and their preference for “natural beauty” (you know the guys who say they don't like makeup but think Kim Kardashian is hot…um, what?)  that half the fun of going out is the ritual of applying the war paint to our faces and picking outfits in preparation for potentially running into Hugh Jackman on the dance floor. It's our modern form of meditation. (more…)
Effortless – my favorite word, style and attitude. The secret to happiness and all good things in life is, to simply put it, “give no f**ks.† I mean think about the ideal woman, a Victoria’s Secret model, and the ideal man, James Bond. Granted the Victoria’s Secret models weigh about as much as the average 12 year old and have legs that go on for months, and Bond looks phenomenal in a suit and always has a perfectly chiseled jaw line. It’s the element of not caring or trying to be cool that makes them both SO cool.
The VS model with her seemingly not styled, messy, tousled bedhead and soft smokey eyes walking around in her lingerie in front of an audience with a flirty smile as if it were any other day and not the average person’s nightmare. Then there’s Bond getting into to fist fights on top of trains, dangling from the sides of buildings and slipping out of every predicament and into the next without breaking a sweat and keeping a monotone, unamused voice. The ultimate Mr. Cool.
Regardless if you fall into the mainstream standards or follow the beat of your own drummer, as long as you carry yourself as if you’re proud and no one is watching, you can get away with anything.
Here are 10 things to try to look like you’re NOT trying: (more…)
We've gone through some roller coaster-style weather here in New York this past year. Rain storms, tons of snow, Hurricane Sandy and too many gray days left me begging for spring time. Our first couple weeks of spring wasn't all that great honestly. It was kinda grey and chilly, but now the sun is shining and the flowers are starting to bloom lining the sidewalks with vibrant colors.
Now that warm spring weather is in full effect, I find the sleeves on my tops are slowly inching up towards my shoulders. And although I love wearing boots, I love when it comes time to ditch them for half the year and switch to flats and sandals. When I think of spring my mind goes straight to light-wash denim, slouchy tops and lightweight sweaters. On that note, here are a few of my must-have items that no wardrobe should be without! (more…)
Denim has been an all time favorite from season to season. The big three denim brands used to be Levi’s, Lee and Wrangler. Now there are so many different and trendy brands such as J Brand, , Citizens of Humanity and Current/Elliott just to name a few.
Denim became popular with the youth in the 1950s as a symbol of teenage rebellion, in movies such as The Wild One. Jeans were not the “good girl good boy†style back in the day. Currently called jeans, earlier known as dungarees, are a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. (more…)
So long to the good ole days of blue jeans. Granted, your closet is probably filled with your favorite pairs of classic-washed jeans with fades, whiskers and rips courtesy of your own self-doing, but lately graphic denim has hit the scene and they're on a mission.
Think of graphic denim as a way to express yourself. There are so many different kinds to choose from that can perfectly match your style and personality. Try a paisley print if you're more girly or camo if you have more of an edgy, laid back style. (more…)
