For those of you on the East Coast, we assume you're well aware of the recent temperature drop we've been experiencing. The weather has been crisp, cool, fresh and an all-around perfect fall season as of yet. If you haven't already done so, it's officially time to break out your layering pieces.
Oh, layering. Where do we even begin? We think of layering as a type of art. If done properly, you can look so effortless and chic like you quickly threw together this masterpiece of an outfit. Someone will always pay you that compliment of, “Oh my god you look so cute today!” and the response is generally, “Really?!! I just threw it on and ran out the door.”
Bottom line: once you know how to properly layer your garments the outcome will always be compliment-worthy. We put together four different layered-up outfits for daily situations all girls encounter.

In the past, most of us reserved camouflage for real, mean, hide-in-the-forest type bustle. And for the brave who rocked it, they infiltrated the military thrift stores and made their own anti-society fashion mark on the world, sometimes alone. We looked at them and thought, man they must be a tough cookie, because if they walk into a dark forest they might just disappear…and then what?
Those days are over. No one will think you’re GI-Woman come to life. But you can be — dare I say it — trendy. Top designers like Phillip Lim, DKNY, Equipment and even Manolo Blahnik have taken this otherwise brute feeling pattern and made it high-fashion and all over the streets of style. The colors are always neutral in nature, ranging from green to khaki, with subtle hints of grey. For the bolder, you’ll see movement into the reds and blues, the special forces of high fashion camo.
So now that you can buy it from SINGER22, how do you wear this pattern? It’s neutral in color and yet so bold in nature, which makes it hard for a lot of us to wrap our heads around how to make it good. Follow some key guidelines: (more…)
We all want to get the most out of our wardrobe—especially if we paid for quality items. But as the summer sun fades to autumn’s greyer skies and orange leaves, you might find yourself forced to contemplate a shift in your wardrobe.
There are, of course, some things you’ll have to drop your hard-earned cash for like a leather jacket, perhaps. However, here are a few items you can get value out of even as the weather changes. (more…)
We still have a few official days of summer left before fall is in full swing. We've been getting a small dose of the crisp fall weather, but it's definitely time to break out the sweaters, scarves and boots. And, in case you aren't sure, the first official day of fall in Sunday, September 22.
We love leggings, jeggings, and all that stretchy goodness. They’re far more comfortable than any pair of those constricting skinny jeans that we have been magically able to squeeze into. Sometimes not so gracefully with the classic wide leg squat and jump, with fingers gripping  belt loops upward for dear life maneuver, wondering when would be the day we’d rip one off. Then we’d disguise muffin tops and became pros at sucking in our gut that it became second nature and we actually convinced ourselves we were that skinny. That is, until we got home peeled our jeans off and caught a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror as we exhaled. Ugh. (more…)
Twerking is the booty shaking craze that’s swept the nation. It's sexual, it's funny and everyone should try it at least once whether it’s in public or private – no pressure. Twerking does not discriminate against men or women, big or small. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone’s invited, unless you’re being creepy. If you are new to twerking or looking to improve your current skill follow these tips and tricks. (more…)
This one is for the boys who are trying to impress the ladies. Hopefully by now you’ve worked your charm and you got that pretty young thing to agree to go on a date with you. You won her over with your personality and mutual interests, but you need to keep impressing her. She’s going to want to see how dynamic you are and how you flourish in different settings.
Basically, we women, notice details and we’re using them to judge you. While we’re enjoying the moment with you, we’re also trying to determine what a future with you would be like (whether its short term or long term). Your first impressions are vital, so you better dress to the nines and open doors for us – chivalry is NOT dead. (more…)
The end of the week has finally arrived and you’re ready to let loose and let off some steam. You're going to get dolled up just so you can go sweat it all off on the dance floor.  Guys don't understand that, despite the dim lights of the night life scene, and their preference for “natural beauty” (you know the guys who say they don't like makeup but think Kim Kardashian is hot…um, what?)  that half the fun of going out is the ritual of applying the war paint to our faces and picking outfits in preparation for potentially running into Hugh Jackman on the dance floor. It's our modern form of meditation. (more…)
There's something about distressed denim that I'm in love with. Perhaps, it's the way each fray and rip wears in perfectly to the contours of my legs with each wear? The fact they already have that broken in feel and I don't have to do squats to make them stretch a bit? Ladies, I know you know what I'm talking about. Or they are just simply effortless and chic.
I stumbled across this amazing, detailed tutorial on the Free People blog, BLDG 25, showing you how to perfectly distress a pair of jeans. It really doesn't take any time at all to create a truly unique pair of jeans. Plus, you only need a few tools: a sharp razor blade (be careful!), card stock, scissors, sandpaper and a dremel, which is optional. (more…)
Dear ladies (and some European men):
Pay attention. Recall your routine as you prepare for a typical day. Your hair, face, outfit, shoes and accessories are all on point. There’s one thing you forgot. It may seem petty, and maybe you didn’t know or maybe you thought no one would notice, but guess what…we noticed. We, the world behind you, are staring…talking about “it.†“It†is the dreaded VPL: Visible Panty Line. (more…)
