Men's VIP List
Both Women's & Men's VIP List
Summer has officially arrived in New York City. Everyone is breaking out their shorts, breezy fabrics and flirty dresses. This summer is the summer of prints and brights. Loud, fun, obnoxious, novelty prints and bold, saturated colors. Prints of all kinds including florals, animal, skulls, paisley, preppy, you name it. I myself love bold abstract and tribal statement prints. It’s a great way to stand out in NYC.
New Yorkers are all in an unspoken competition to see who can stand out the most and make a statement. Life here is about celebrating individuality and having others notice and acknowledge it. But in a place where the competition and ambition are high, no one will notice you if you don’t give them a reason to.  Incorporating a colorful print into your outfit is a simple eye catching way to spark interest.  Check out the bright summer prints on these street stylers in Little Italy. (more…)
I took a trip back to the South for Mother’s Day weekend to surprise my mom. She’s impossible to shop for, so being the narcissist I am, I thought I was the best present to show up on her doorstep. No one knew I was visiting, so when I showed up with a bouquet of flowers (above) and walked through the front door at dinnertime everyone was thrilled. I was relieved that she was so happy to see me because I figured I would either be welcomed with excitement or scolded for being so good at lying for a month about the planned trip and sneaking down the East Coast. I began my spring cleaning, so it was really nice to come into work only to shoot summer dresses. All of Emerson Thorpe was in the dressing room and it was my first time ever hearing of the brand. I fell in love with the colors. Emerald green, Magenta, Royal Blue, and it wasn't just in the dresses, it was in the blouses also. I'm on the verge of buying almost everything here, but when I narrow it down and really try to think about what I need, it's those perfect spring/summer dresses. If you have been up to date on my blog, I recently posted one of my favorite Pencey dresses sold here. It will look so great with a tan, and I love the silk fabric with the tie down corset like back. I've also been dying for the perfect summer blazer and of course Emerson Thorpe made the most perfect light blazer for over a floral mini. White and black. Barbara and I are just about to start shooting all the new Chaser as well. Chaser is a personal favorite because it's honestly great for anything. Over bathingsuits, walking around town, hanging out at the house, and dressed up with a hot mini skirt.
Have a great weekend and keep checking SomethingNavy for all my Singer outfits!
Summer is quickly approaching and what better way to show off your boho side than fashionining some fringe. We're seeing a major comeback of 1970's style and fringe was a wardrobe staple then, and it's made it's way back into the now. They key to wearing fringe is don't try and dress it up too much. Kick back with some denim cut offs and rustic boots to take this look home.
On the fashion fringe:
Girlie brunches, beach days, date nights, hot summer vacations…you've got lots to do this spring & summer. But have no fear, because we have plenty of trendy options to add to your wardrobe. From color blocking to neutralizing, check out my favorite top 5 trends for the season below:
The amount of pieces photographed for Pencey and Thayer today is unheard of. It's so amazing because I get the opportunity of trying everything on and sort of seeing how it fits. Even though I am madly in love with all the new items – I can't stop thinking about the brand new StyleStalker dress I bought today. I have been dreaming about it since the day we shot the look book and finally, I am leaving here today with it tucked away into my Singer22 shopping bag. I'd say I've racked up about 10 of those now. MUST LEARN SELF CONTROL! Anyway the new Thayer blouses sort of remind me of the Equipments, but the prints are very different then the ordinary leopard and polka dot you normally see. They looked super cute with literally anything I paired them with. I also loved the Pencey dresses. My favorite was the white satin long one with the dream catcher on the back. I also tried on a ton of brand new skinny jeggings – as soon as I thought they couldn't possibly make any other version of a jegging I was proven wrong. I also bought the Robin colored sleeveless Equipment shirt today. I literally almost fought a woman in the store for the Small. She won, so I left with a medium – turns out, the medium suits me better. My number one thing I must discuss today are all the new shoes. I can't even begin. Senso is my long lost love. The leopard booties, the black booties, the copy of the Acne Admire booties, and the beige flats with the fringe. When I opened the silver shoe boxes, I felt things I've never felt before. It made the day of shooting that much better. I have a problem don't I? I bet you'll all feel the same when you see them. We've been brainstorming new ideas for the website and we've come up with the idea for StreetStyle in the lookbook section. I can't wait to showcase all my looks out and about in the city. I will also do my own little take on the singer22 lookbooks. For example, this weekend I will do my own unique version of Lighten Up for Spring.
Can't wait to share!
Why wear green?
Probably because you'll be pinched if you don't! School children started this tradition. Green is also the color of spring, the shamrock, and is connected with hope and nature. Historically, green has been a color used in the flags of several revolutionary groups in Ireland and as a result it appears in the official tri-color country flag, adopted in 1919.
Other fun St. Patrick's Day traditions:
Four Leaf Clovers:
Although clovers are most often found in nature with three leaves, rare four-leaf clovers do exist. Finding one is thought to bring someone extreme luck. It is believed that each leaf of a four-leaf clover represents something different:Â first is hope, the second is faith, the third is love, and the fourth is happiness.
Just what does a mythical leprechaun look like and why are they so special? A leprechaun looks like a little old man and dresses like a shoemaker with a cocked hat and leather apron. A Leprechaun's personality is described as aloof and unfriendly. They live alone and pass the time by mending the shoes of Irish fairies.
The luck of the Irish
Want to be lucky this St. Patrick's Day? Follow this advice:
1. Find a four-leaf clover. 2. Wear green (so you don't get pinched). 3. Kiss the blarney stone. 4. Catch a Leprechaun if you can.
