NYC Pride Parade: Straight People Rock Rainbows Too

11:48 AM

Gay PrideHappy Pride! The pride parade is something I always look forward to every year I’m in New York City, especially this year with the death of DOMA. A couple was carrying a poster that read “Together for 20 years, married for 8, finally legal.” People lined the streets from Midtown on 5th Avenue all the way down to Greenwich, watching from behind the barricades or from apartment windows and balconies. I Yell, You Yell, We All Rebel Yell

3:48 PM

Today was fun shooting all the comfy t-shirts and sweatshirts from Rebel Yell. It's always a fun day when we get to shoot the cozy clothes. I paired all of them with all the bright JBrands which I need to start getting into. I bought myself an orange pair and need to find a way to wear it. After trying on all the colored JBrands with the Rebel Yell t-shirts, I really loved the color blocking and the comfiness of it. I brought in the infamous Lita's and called it a day. I added a few of the Low Luv rings which I honestly could wear with absolutely anything and a tousled hair look. Since I could remember, Rebel Yell has been around and constantly coming out with great soft t-shirts and their signature R on the sleeve. I don't think anyone can have a satisfied closet with out at least one piece from the line.

Inside Look: Rebel Yell

8:50 PM

Rebel Yell reflects the nostalgia of a childhood spent in the glory days of the late 70's and early 80's. From the clothing to the distinct name, the inspiration for the line has and always will be from owner and designer Andi Ballard's memories of growing up in Virginia. And what better way to epitomize her rowdy, all-American childhood than her favorite wooden roller coaster, The Rebel Yell. Raised by a fashion loving folk-rock musician mom, Ballard's style influences started young. There was never a shortage of inspiring fashion, art and music around the house when she was growing up. With the classic rock greats echoing through her design studio, Ballard set out to create a line of clothing reminiscent of the styles she grew up with: playful, comfortable and all things vintage. Shop The Crop

1:12 PM

I'm always hesitant about purchasing crop tops because I honestly can't imagine feeling comfortable with my stomach showing and not crossing over to trashy town. After SINGER22 got hit with a ton of crop tops, I figured I'd better make an effort to understand what to do with these shrunken things. After playing around I came to the conclusion that they only work with high waisted. High waisted skirts, shorts, jeans, pants, etc. Here are a few looks I put together with my favorite crop tops. If you are very uncomfortable with even a little bit of your stomach showing, a tank top can always be worn underneath. I think the contrast of a long necklace with these mini tops really balances it out nicely. In the third outfit I tested out a shorter necklace as well. The rebel yell t-shirts are my favorite because they come in all those great neon colors. If you do choose to buy a cropped top with writing on it or a pattern/design, get a little crazy! Mix and match. It was really fun to pair the hot pink with turquoise with the grey. Even while putting it on, I knew it wouldn't match, but I just knew it would work – confidence is key! If you opt for a solid color like this purple Free People piece, spice it up with some necklaces and some jewelry. The best part about a simple top is the accessorizing it needs. If you find yourself choosing the sweater-ish crop top, keep it classy with a simple pair of high waisted bell bottoms or shorts and a cute tote to go along with it.
Which look is your favorite?
