11:15 AM

Our Creative Marketing/Video Producer, Korey, sent over this week's studio sound by Donald Glover who performs as his alter-ego rapper Childish Gambino. Why the name Childish Gambino? Glover discovered it from an online Wu-Tang Clan name generator. “There’s no difference between Donald Glover and Childish Gambino – they’re the same. I just want people to come at my music differently…” he says of the name.

Donald Glover is not only a successful rapper, but a writer, comedian, actor and musician. Graduating in 2006 from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Dramatic Writing. As well as being a member of Derrick Comedy, Donald is best known for playing the character of Troy Barnes on NBC's Community. He's even written for The Daily Show in 2005 and 30 Rock in 2008-2009, which he won the award for Best Comedy Series from the Writers Guild of America in 2009.

Childish Gambino released his first record, Sick Boi, in 2008 that was followed with Poindexter a year later. His other albums include Culdesac, CAMP, Love Letter in an Unbreakable Bottle and a few others. Needless to say, Glover has been a bit busy with his music career admitting, “It’s weird: I don’t think standup needs me as much as music does.”

Donald also made an appearance in the newest season of the HBO hit series Girls as Hannah's new Republican boyfriend Sandy.
