Men's VIP List
Both Women's & Men's VIP List
In the fall of 2009, Jeff Fagen walked into the Manhattan flagship store of a major surfwear company and had a painful revelation. ”Like the recent college graduate who suddenly realizes his upside down, jello-shot days are over, I suddenly realized that I could no longer relate to the styles laid out in front of me; the baggy fit, the loud prints—none of it made sense. I’m a former Jones Beach lifeguard and a zealous wave rider—but as a grown man in the surf, I don’t want to look like a rodeo clown or one of the kids hanging out in front of the 7-11.” And so the brand was born. Imagine the creative force of 1 billion freed spirits. Imagine Mao dropping in on the dawn lineup at Ditch Plains. Imagine a new culture governed by Swell Thinking and Panda Diplomacy. This is Liberated China. The ultimate triumph of spirit in an authoritarian world. An east coast brand steeped in the tenacious optimism of the east coast surfer. A brand for the man with style and a sly edge who knows when to make waves and when to ride them.
With Spring Break upon us and Memorial Day and summer round the corner we were stoked to see some of our favorite gear amongst Selectism’s “10 Wet Short”. Onia‘s Calder Short and Lightning Bolt‘s boardshort were mentioned. If those don’t suffice we also have Sundek and Olasul as well. Pair any of these trunks with a great graphic t, tank, your favorite shades and Havaianas and you’re ready to jet to the beach or poolside.
Havaianas is known for making the world’s best flip flop, straight from the beaches in Brazil and available worldwide. São Paulo, Brazil is the predominant city in the graffiti world with the largest number of works, and considered one of the top cities in the world to appreciate street art and Havaianas has found a way for you to sport some of this killer art. We are stoked about the union between Havaianas and urban art, and have these limited edition flip-flops with prints from 3 renowned graffiti artists: Highraff, Speto and Zezão. Havaianas are a must have for the summer months, whether paired with denim, your favorite boardshorts from Onia, Sundek or Olasul; or rocking shorts from Burkman Bros. Throw on your Ray-Bans or Persol shades and fill a Wm. J. Mills & Co. duffel with some tanks and Fred Perry polos and you’re ready for a rockin’ beach weekend.
With a strong graphic design influence, Highraff blends graffiti, illustration, cartoon language and psychedelic art, which results in organic forms with striking color combinations. His inspirations mainly come from natural forms such as the sun, moon, stars and plants.
Born in São Paulo, Speto is one of the artists responsible for the originality of Brazilian graffiti. He developed a unique style that carries hip hop elements and a strong influence of woodcut.
Zezão became famous for expressing his art in the sewer galleries in the city of São Paulo. It was a way of bringing color and life to forgotten places. During his career, he developed two types of art: the first remits to abstract calligraphy; the second employs abstract and colorful drawings.
There are some staples every guy’s wardrobe should not be without. One is the iconic polo shirt. Launched at Wimbledon in 1952, the Fred Perry polo shirt was an immediate success, known for its laurel logo and adopted as part of the uniform of the punks and mods and today’s hipsters worldwide. We like to stick to our laurels and note that some celebs like and Stephen Moyer and Zac Efron are fans too. Offered in solid or the timeless twin tipped polo in a never ending combination of colors, pair them with jeans, khakis or your favorite boardshort, havaianas and shades for afternoon cocktails by the pool.
GQ’s obsessed and so are we. Need new gear for the beach? Lightning Bolt offers great swim trunks and sick graphic tees and tanks emblazoned with the bolt and we’ve got a great stash to choose from. Pair ‘em with your favorite jeans, havaianas, some Burkman Bros. bracelets and killer shades and you’re good to go!
The California classic board short is back with a vengeance and no matter what your favorite color is we’ve got you covered. Whether lying in the sun or riding the swells, no guy’s closet should be lacking these killer trunks. We offer an array of solids, plaids and patterns. We also offer the capsule collection from Neil Barrett and you can score his version in CAMO! Pair these sick board shorts with some Havaianas, Raybans and Burkman Bros bracelets and tanks and you’re good to go! Don’t just take our word for it T – The New York Times Style Magazine, Esquire and the LA Times concur.
Gant by Michael Bastian hits the surf and takes inspiration from ’70s kitsch—think the original Hawaii Five-0 or the Brady Bunch visits Hawaii. Call it a mash-up between East Coast ivy covered campuses and chilled-down island tropics. Who cares we can’t wait to get our hands on those red camo cargo shorts and the retro chest stripe windbreaker.
