Iconic American artist and painter Norman Rockwell inspired the fall/winter 2013 GANT by Michael Bastian collection called ‘In Stockbridge.’ Rockwell was known for his romantic illustrations of America, which graced many covers of the Saturday Evening Post. Taking bits and pieces from Rockwell’s character and art, Michael Bastian translates this nostalgia into a contemporary collection named after Rockwell’s New England town.
GANT says of the deeply-colored, utilitarian collection:
We called the collection ‘In Stockbridge’ as a homage to the small New England town Rockwell lived and worked in. With distinct references to mid-century America, GANT by Michael Bastian for Fall/Winter 2013 is inspired by Norman Rockwell’s iconic illustrations from the 40’s and 50’s. Vintage American classics from the time when GANT was founded have been updated and tweaked for a contemporary look through the unmistakable aesthetic of Michael Bastian.
If you’re a fan of GANT and Rockwell, we think you’ll be pretty pleased with this fall/winter collection. There is no shortage of style and effortlessly cool pieces with checked shirts, club blazers, chinos and “time typical accessories like new boy caps and paisley ties are inspired by the clothes worn by the characters in Rockwell’s illustrations.”
