The desire for an under culture of clothing that blasts out of the norm became the main focus of designer Eric Esipinoz, a native of Los Angeles and former DJ. Eric was actually making clothes for himself and friends and that whole idea launched UNIF (Ur Not In Fashion). The influence is completely subversive and has been called a collision of LA’s party scene with a fusion of the underground/punk/death meal look. UNIF tops, boots, tanks, tees and jeans are not only in demand, but have appealed to everyone that wants to wear everything that is different. The UNIF skirts and even lingerie are beyond cutting edge as they have been catapulted into a global phenomenon. UNIF skirts and jackets have an eye for detail, but not the kind of details you see on a typical runway. There has been a void in the market for witty, sharp, and hotly distressed wear and UNIF has filled that void. It only made sense to expand the line to include UNIF boots and other lean and edgy accessories. Seen just about everywhere, they were included as an editor’s selection in Elle Magazine and the coolest girls wearing UNIF are Rihanna and Ashley Tisdale.
